Welcome to our MOY first regional MOY Roof Waterproofing news update from the South of the UK. We hope you find it informative, if you have any questions or require any support on flat roof projects (technical or otherwise) we are always happy to help.
The Southern Team at MOY have enjoyed a busy start to the year in terms of tendering new enquiries, winning tenders and projects starting on site. Our focus has always been on the Pre-construction phase as much as the construction phase. We believe that working closely with Design and Construction management teams from conception to completion allows us to focus on the four key elements of each individual and specific project in its own merit which are 1. Design Criteria 2. Buildability 3. Commercial Viability and 4. Building Lifecycle. We are here to support your projects and help you deliver with trust and partnership.

Case Study
We thought we would share with you one of our most popular projects which have utilised our MOY Liquid roof material Enkopur with a combination of MOY’s copper green membrane. This was a great project with some excellent imagery from the Devizes Library in Wilshire. Read about it here
Hot in the City
Here at MOY we always try to offer the best advice for installers on site and understand how challenging the application of torch on membranes can be during extremely high temperatures. Within our MOY guidelines for roofing in heat we have a few simple but effective points, hope it is of interest.
Charity participation
Throughout the month of May, Mark Oakley, took part in a challenge called ‘5k a day in May’! This, as it says, was to run 5km every day throughout the month of May. With Mark achieving his goal and raising as much money as possible for the charity that he has chosen. The Brain Tumour Charity is a charity that is close to Mark and his family’s hearts.

Nick Dalley – Southern Regional Business Development Manager
I have worked within the Roofing Industry for just over 14 years, starting at SIG back in 2008 where I looked after Local and National Roofing Contractors supplying Roof Insulation and technical support. I then took on a new role within SIG Roofing managing a regional territory and new business in particular to Roof Membranes and Roof Systems that allowed me to develop into the management of Key Accounts for Pitched and Flat Roofing. I then joined Moy in 2017, with the vision to understand design specification for flat roof systems, and quickly engaged with Architects, Main Contractors, Surveyors and End Clients to provide bespoke specifications to suit the projects, whilst managing our approved contractor network. Following the continued growth in the region, I moved into a Specification role directly aimed at New Build Design, with my role offering key design and pre-construction support to Architect, Main Contractor and Clients. Again with continued success in the South East Region, I was recently promoted into a Business Development Role for the UK-South to promote the Moy business and to develop our relationships with our Supply Chain Partners and B2B opportunities with Clients and Main Contractors.
Pete Swannell – Area Technical Manager (Refurb) – South East
I started in the construction industry in July 1982, so this is my 40th year in the industry.
I have worked in both the new build sector and the refurbishment sector and have picked up a vast amount of knowledge and expertise working with key manufacturers and system providers within the construction industry, namely BPB (British Gypsum/Artex), Sky Garden (Green Roofs), Protan (PVC Single Ply Systems), BMI Icopal and Moy Materials.
I have been specialising in the roofing sector for the past 12 years, looking after both new build and refurbishment projects and engaging Architects, Surveyors, Local Authorities and specialist roofing contractors.
Kate Antill – Account Manager (New Build) – South East
I previously worked within Kingspan Group, working as an internal Technical advisor for EcoTherm Insulation then progressing to an ASM for the South East. I was then promoted as a Key Account Manager for Building Innovation for Tapered & Flat Roofing.
I started as MOY in Feb 2021 as New Build account manager for the South East, working closely with Nick Dalley. My focus is Roofing Contractors and some Main Contractors. In this time I have formed strong relationships with our existing Key accounts and also brought on new business. My background in Thermal Insulation has seen me bring some new ideas and focus to the Moy UK team, in a field that has become the most expensive component of the flat roof system in recent years.
Bradley Kear – Area Technical Manager – South West/Wales
I have worked in this role for 2 years covering both refurbishment and new build projects in the region.
My role includes assisting specifiers in promoting to put forward the most suitable and correct waterproofing specifications, whether that be new build and NBS specifications or refurbishment where we carry out condition surveys of roof areas and issue detailed condition reports as well as refurbishment specification proposals. I also work closely alongside our local approved contractor network with upcoming projects and future opportunities, as well as main contractors assisting with tendering and specification packages for projects.
More personally I joined the industry as a newbie coming from a personal training and sport science background but given the in house support and continual training from MOY I was able to adapt and learn in my new role and industry.
