BACKGROUND
Canonmills Gardens is a stunning luxury apartment development overlooking the Water of Leith in the northern part of Edinburgh. Working within a bustling City Centre location the project offered a multitude of logistical challenges.
CHALLENGES
The City Centre location always provides the main challenges, particularly with the green roof finishes. Co-ordinating deliveries as the works progressed for the various component parts of the green roof following by the living finishes themselves.
Whilst green roof finishes are becoming more popular, it is unusual to have developments, particularly for residential, that involved almost every m2 of waterproofing applied to be buried under either intensive or extensive finishes. This gives the project a key aesthetically advantage and one which will be key to the local environment it is in.
SOLUTION
From a very early stage, it was clear MOY ParoMelt Hot applied liquid waterproofing was the only choice of waterproofing to be installed on this site. This was due to project requirement of all upper-level roof requiring MOY extensive green roof finishes with all lower-level terraces and balconies finished with a mix of concrete pavings, decking & gravel.
With underground car parking, MOY ParoMelt was also applied to the podium decking prior to the installation of the intensive landscape finishes.
