With just 6 weeks to go until the new PU training regulations are enforced, it is vital that all professional and industrial users of polyurethane (PU) adhesives and sealant products within the EU and UK, have successfully completed training. The date in which training must be completed is 24th August 2023, and this is to be renewed every 5 years.
We have provided some additional information below which will hopefully help and answer any questions you may have.
Why are new regulations being introduced?
The regulations target unsafe handling of diisocyanates used in polyurethane (PU) products, whilst allowing adhesives and sealants to remain widely available.
What does this mean?
Products sold within the EU and UK with a total monomeric diisocyanate concentration greater than 0.1% intended for professional or industrial use meet the labelling regulations which were implemented in Feburary 2022 and the training regulations must be met by August 2023.
Where is training available?
FEICA (the Association of the European Adhesive & Sealant Industry, in coordination with several other bodies within the polyurethane industry, have been developing a comprehensive training programme to ensure the safe use of diisocyanates for producers and professional users all over Europe.
For product uses within the UK and the EU, there is a new PU training platform available which allows for self e-learning or the option to register for training with an accredited trainer.
